The Stuttgart Research Partnership on Integrated System Analysis for Energy (STRise) was founded in 2015 to advance research on the transformation of the energy system. The STRise partners - the German Aerospace Center (DLR), IER and ZIRIUS of the University of Stuttgart, and the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) - are proud to announce the first International Symposium on Energy System Analysis (ISESA), scheduled for November 11th and 12th, 2024, in Stuttgart. The symposium will focus on the theme, "Next Level of Security of Supply: A Resilience Strategy for the Energy Transition."
This interdisciplinary symposium brings together academics, practitioners and students to discuss the critical challenges facing the energy sector as it moves towards a defossilised future. The symposium will explore vulnerabilities in the new energy system, including technical inflexibility, user acceptance, and dependence on rare materials. Additionally, participants will delve into crucial issues like governance, energy justice, and the development of robust resilience strategies, all of which are vital to ensuring a secure and sustainable energy transition. The symposium will offer a blend of presentations, poster sessions, and networking opportunities, designed to foster collaboration and inspire innovative approaches to address the challenges of the energy transition. Keynote speakers include distinguished scholars Prof. Dr. Russell McKenna from ETH Zurich and Prof. Dr. Armin Grunwald from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, whose insights will set the stage for in-depth discussions.
“We are thrilled to host the first ISESA and bring together such a diverse group of experts to discuss the future of energy systems,” said Prof. Dr. Patrick Jochem as STRise Koordinator. “As we navigate the complexities of the energy transition, it’s more important than ever to develop strategies that ensure not only sustainability but also resilience and equity.”
