DESCRIPTION:On November 23rd, the lecture series on the current developments in energy policy in Germany and Korea will start with its first online lecture on the “Decarbonisation of Heating in Germany and Korea” and will continue with its second lecture on the “Challenges and Opportunities for Increasing Energy Efficiency in Data Centers – a German and Korean perspective” on November 30th.\nLanguage: English/Korean (simultaneous translation)Moderator: Jana Narita, Manager, Team of the Korean-German Energy Partnership, adelphi Objective: Give a comparative overview over current energy related discussions and developments in both countries, vis a vis questions of climate change mitigation, soaring energy prices and energy security. 1. Specifically, the transition of the heating sector holds great potential for climate change mitigation. It has become one of the key areas of political discussion in the last year, vis a vis the increasingly visible effects of climate change, soaring energy prices and questions of energy security fueled by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In the lecture, Prof. Dr. Peter Radgen (University of Stuttgart) and Prof. Dr. Seung Jick Yoo (Sookmyung Women’s University) will talk about the status, challenges, opportunities and future developments of the heating transition in Germany and Korea.\n2. Challenges and Opportunities for Increasing Energy Efficiency in Data Centers Wednesday, 30th of November 2022, CET (09:00-10:30) / KST (17:00-18:30) \nThe second lecture will give a comparative overview over the challenges and opportunities for increasing energy efficiency in data centres and related measures to deal with these aspects in Germany and Korea.
